I.M.P.A.C.T. seeks to advance the placement of individuals with autism and other disabilities in society by advocating for quality education and vocational training as appropriate. I.M.P.A.C.T. supports the efforts of the scientific and parental communities for biomedical and other research investigating the cause, alleviation of symptoms and hopefully the cure for autism. I.M.P.A.C.T.’s mission is to:

  • Promote awareness with educators, community leaders and the general public through school assemblies, speeches, conferences, seminars, essay contests and provision of educational materials; establishment of a library on disabilities providing accessible information to all.

  • Promote inclusion with the board of education, school administrators, principals, teachers, and the general public by providing facts on autism and inclusion through existing networks, creating adhoc committees, paraprofessional scholarships and the development of a middle and high school curriculum.

  • Promote acceptance among peers, the general public and the business community through the development of after school programs offering equal opportunities to all students with autism ie. Circle of Friends Program implemented by Coordinators of Autism Services.

  • Develop a mentor program for families to ensure they are informed of the resources available to them. These needs will be met through the establishment of a hotline, resource web page, newsletter and parent library.

  • Supports biomedical research by the scientific community as it relates to cause and treatment of autism.
