Hi, we would like to introduce ourselves for those of you who are not familiar with us. We are IMPACT (Improving Middletown’s Programs for Autistic Children Together). We have been incorporated since 2001 and supply support and advocacy to parent’s with children on the spectrum. We have a very good working relationship with the Middletown school district and together we have implemented many positive advancements.

Our most recent achievement was the opening of a new vocational / life skills classroom in Bayshore Middle School. Together with the district we were able to provide our children with a working kitchen, laundry room, computer center and more. The children spend half their day learning academics and half the day learning how to become independent.

Some of our other accomplishments are the implementation of new reading programs, training for teachers and para professionals, the addition of an autistic coordinator position and guest speakers to help parents better understand some of the issues faced by our children (ie: sensory integration).

Along with making sure our children are receiving the best possible education they can get, we are a support for each other. We have meetings once a month to share stories and ideas, or just talk about something besides the disability. We have organized picnics for families, cocktail cruises, dinner and a play in NYC etc.

You can visit our website to find our more information at www.impactnj.org

If you would like to be on our e-mail list to learn about upcoming events / meetings / support groups, please e-mail me at gppedretti@comcast.net or call (732) 530-7022.
